Lombard street is actually the only road that leads to the Golden Gate Bridge Bride as you leve San Francisco driving north via the Golden Gate Bridge. Lombard street is part of Highway 101 and subject to heavy traffic during the rush hours. However, there is a small section of Lombard street considered as America's crookedest street! This particular section of Lombard street is located between Hyde street where the cable car runs and the scenic Leavenworth street that ends down in the fisherman's wharf!

Lombard Street is a very steep and hilly street with sharp curves to switchback. The street is full of flowers including the famous Hydrangeas flowers. You do not need a dance degree to work as a Street Dance teacher.

So, what do you need?

Having a dance degree will not necessarily give you the tools, techniques and teaching skills you need to be a Street Dance teacher. Whilst the degree may give you a great grounding in general, if you do not study Street or Hip Hop Dance directly, then you will not have the skills needed to teach it.

Unless the college or university you are attending specialises in Street or Hip Hop dance you may not get the specific experience and training you need from a general dance degree.

If you want a successful career in the industry then I suggest you follow my three step approach:

Step 1. Become an excellent Street Dancer.

In order to teach Street Dance you need to be an excellent Street Dancer. You need to be unconsciously competent at the skill. What I mean by unconsciously competent is that you need to have mastered the style and technique in order to be able to teach it. Therefore your own Street / Hip Hop Dance education is very important.

When I first got into the industry, I studied Street and Hip Hop Dance in Central London. I attended as many classes, workshop and master classes as I could.

You don't need to be in London. There are some fantastic dance schools worldwide. If there aren't any in your area, search online for DVDs or online classes so that you can begin your education. We all have to start somewhere! The important thing is taking action and getting started.

Step 2. Learn how to teach.

There is a big difference between being an excellent dancer and being an excellent teacher. They are completely different skill sets.

If you want to be a successful street dance teacher, do what I did and master the skill of teaching. I know that no matter a person's age, shape, size or ability, I have the skills in place to be able to teach them. Wouldn't you like the same skill set?

Find a course or programme that focuses on the skill of teaching Street Dance.

Step 3. Continue your education.

Continue to develop and grow your own Street and Hip Hop Dancing skills. This will mean that you keep fresh and continue to inspire both yourself and your students. Even after being in the industry for 18 years I still attend classes. Every year I fly to New York to train with some of the world's best Street and Hip Hop dancers. As a teacher, developing yourself and continuing to learn is of great importance.

The onset of technology is such that many simply use the high tech gadgets to video tape everything and anything that fancies their imagination. In fact young kids as young as eleven and twelve years are quite an expert in handling these equipments and the scary thing is they have such an assortment of street fight footages starting from silly and fun filled tussles to real, ugly fights and they keep stock of these fight tapes and CD's as one would collect stamps as a hobby.

These street fights caught on home videos are displayed so freely and many make it a habit to collect bits here and there. It's an entertainment for them. The Innovative World of the Wall Street Journal Online

At one time, newspapers were incredibly influential in terms of their ability to shape opinion. This is not the case anymore. The main reason for this is the fact that online news sources are providing serious competition to the traditional print press. This has led to a significant decline in newspaper circulations. However, a small number of print newspapers have not only survived the online storm; they have done extraordinarily well despite the competition. Their newspaper still boasts two million readers a day. Even more impressive, however, is the fact that the paper has transitioned quite well into the online medium. Its online subscriber numbers are staggering as the paper has close to one million members. These are truly amazing numbers and it leads many people to wonder the secret of the Wall Street Journal's success.

Part of the reason is that although the newspaper is named after a particular street in New York City, the subject matter of the paper is international in scope. There are financial markets all over the world. People involved in these markets require an influx of news on the subject of banking, finance, and the economy. Whether it is the financial district of modern London or the black Wall Street of 1920's Oklahoma, people all over the world have required financial news. The Wall Street Journal provided for that need. As a result, it has been reaping the rewards since its inception in an earlier century.

Of course, the ability for the Journal to stay relevant ties in with the foresight to create an online presence. This is no minor feet. Had it not effectively developed a credible online subscription service it would have lost ground to more visionary start ups. Yes, the Journal could have gotten into the game at a later date but this would have been seen as a "follow the leader" tactic and not one of innovation. The New York Times learned this lesson when its late start into online news subscription services never caught on.

How ahead of the game was the newspaper in this regard? Well, the website debuted in 1996. (URL: WallStreetJoural.com) The internet was making its first massive expansion into people's homes during this time period. They were well ahead of the curve since it immediately jumped into the fray. Yes, several newspapers had websites but they were sparse and did not truly embody the look and feel of a new media dynamo. The Wall Street Journal Online did and it set the foundation for the future growth that it would soon experience.

Part of the reason for this is that they understood the trends media communications were being directed. Since the Wall Street Journal lived in a realm of dollars and cents, it understood that the future of news would be found in online subscriptions. Traditional newspapers were simply too mired in tradition to grasp this concept. As such, they fell behind while the Wall Street Journal embraced change and rode it to significant new media success.

Wall Street to Main Street: News, Views and Commentary: June 9, 2006

It's Friday June 9, 2006, and yesterday was a wild day, the Dow dropped over 177 points at one point and was down for most of the day and the money started flowing in at about 2:50pm EST giving a small boost to the Dow and it finally closed up a pinch, just over 7 points.. The bottom line here is that you have to begin looking at stocks on an individual basis and don't continue to look at the S&P, the Dow or the Nasdaq Composite as a gauge because it will not guide you through this rollercoaster ride.

This is why we feature individual stocks and give our outlook based on the company and the industry. If the stock is not a slave to the Dow but gets dragged down in the process you should be all over it because that is an opportunity.

This market will continue to go up and down and sideways until there is some clarity in regards to an interest rate hike. This is not just a problem for U.S. markets but worldwide and if anyone tells you any different they are not doing you a service. Interest rates around the globe were raised yesterday as inflation worries loom.

We received plenty of emails from our listeners and readers asking for direction, asking us whether they should buy, sell or hold a particular issue. We do not feature each and every email or question because when you ask for our direction we do our homework so that we are giving you our best outlook on the stock, and not doing it on the fly because that could cause more harm than good.

Yesterday we had more new subscribers to "Wall Street to Main Street" than ever, and that just shows you that investors are looking for guidance, and we're trying hard to do that for you. Investment advisers, stockbrokers, and even several investment clubs added themselves to the list of subscribers yesterday, so we have to be doing something right.

Now that we established where we stand lets move forward and try to cherry pick those stocks that have been oversold by not only institutions but by investors.

Movers and Shakers

Some major movers in yesterdays trading session include Overstock.com (NASDAQ: OSTK), which traded up $1.56 to close at $23.16, now we are talking about a company that has negative earnings to the tune of $1.20a a share. It is bouncing off of its 52 week low of $20.89, so in other words this is a dead cat bouncing. Even with they added a quicker checkout process on their site by implementing AuctionCheckout.com's online payment service, this still won't bring it back to life. Companies that actually earn money were driven down on Thursday and there was no real reason why this puppy made upward movement, it's an anomaly I guess.

Allegheny Technology (NYSE: ATI) traded up $3.50 to close on $62.75, now it wasn't as simple as the stock just moving up, it went down with the rest of the market, traded as low as $54 78 before the buying starting flowing back into the stock. When you see a stock like Allegheny Tech traded down that low and that fast you have to find out why, nothing fundamentally changed with the company. Actually Leo Larkin an Analyst with Standard & Poor's Equity Research recently upgraded the stock from a Sell to a Hold., he actually forecasted 2006 earnings of $4.40 for the company, they posted an EPS of $3.60 for 2005, so S&P sees growth. These are the type of companies that you have to seek out, those that are oversold for no good reason. The demand for Stainless Steel will continue to grow in aerospace and power generation, so they may live up to Larkin's expectations.

Fluor Corp (NYSE: FLR) traded up $3.24 to close at $88.58, the global engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance and project management service provided dropped over $3 on Wednesday, traded as low as $82.93 on Thursday and powered up to close up over $3.24 for the day. The stock was trading over $100 a share this past May and was hammered down, this is one that could creep back up to the $95

Autozone (NYSE: AZO) traded up $2.48 to close at $93.00, this came on the heels of the former President, Vice Chairman and Director of Borders (NYSE: BGP) George R. Mrkonic, Jr joined the board of directors of Autozone. So that is the reason for the movement, this all came to light on Wednesday after the close. Now Autozone is about $10 off its 52 week high and sits with an EPS of $7.30 and a P/E of 12. With Mrkonic giving his input at Autozone you'll see this one back in the triple digits.

Other stocks that made moves on the upside include Allergan Inc (NYSEL AGN) which traded up $3.79 to close at $102.27, Giant Industries (NYSE: GI) traded up $3.19 to close at $62.70, Noble Corporation (NYSE: NE) traded up $2.39 to close at $67.53, Occidental Pertroleum (NYSE: OXY) traded up $22.6 to close at $96.98 on its way back to $100, Apple Computer (NASDAQ: AAPL) traded up $2.19 o close at $60.76, this is a stock that should be in the $70 range, Comtech Telecommunications (NASDAQ: CMTL) traded up $1.80 to close at $32.88, Whirlpool Corp (NYSE: WHR) traded up $1.76 to close at $84.50 as they company is looking to trim some fat and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) traded up $1.62 to close at $72.62.

Under Ten

Now lets take a look at movers in the market under ten bucks, Globix Corp (AMEX: GEX) a blast from the past, I remember when this stock was in the $50 range, but that was a long time ago and on a different exchange, but the stock traded up 55 cents to close at $4.80, Nitromed (NASDAQ: NTMD) traded up 35 cents on nice volume to close at $4.99, Cortex Pharmaceuticals (AMEX: COR) traded up 35 cents to close at $3.32, Alliance One International (NYSE: AOI) traded up 27 cents to close at $4.47, Isolagen (AMEX: ILE) traded up 22 cents to close at $2.85 on close to 2 million shares traded and Generex Biotechnology (NASDAQ: GNBT) which traded up 14 cents to close at $1.85.

Downers

Apollo Group (NASDAQ: APOL) slipped down $1.59 to close at $53.88, the company is involved in the higher education for adults business, they operate through their subsidiaries The University of Phoenix, Inc, Western International University, Inc., Institute for Professional Development and The College for Financial Planning, Inc. There was no news yesterday on the company so maybe it was just driven down by market conditions, but just because there was no news on Thursday does not mean that something will not surface today. There has been a changing of the guards at the company, take that into account with a potential slowdown in enrollments and you are in the dark waters. The stock is close to its 52 week low of $47.27 but seems to have support in the high $51 to low $52 range. Lets see how it shapes up today.

Focus Media Holdings (NASDAQ: FMCN) dropped down again on Thursday and its just about getting to a good entry point. The bottom here should be in the $48 to $50 range but that doesn't mean that it will hit that point, if it does then we'll sit on the sidelines because it could slip into the high $30 range. The stock traded down $8.07 to close at $51.56 and there were a few factors involved, first it hit a ceiling for the third time in a row as we mentioned at $68 and second they filed to sell 1,000,000 American Depository Shares or ADS's. So here's the game plan, you need to see if the stock is actually going to bottom yet, and it looks like it just might. Market conditions may just push it down into the $50-$51 range so you have to pick your entry point.

Matria Healthcare (NASDAQ: MTRA) was knocked down even before the bell range and that was for a few reasons, of course the obvious Market Conditions and the main reasons was that they lowered their full year forecast from $1.35-$1.50 to $1.10-$1.17. Now they did this because they anticipated a delay in various contracts that they have on tap. But the street was looking for $1.10 for the full year anyway so they should be in line with that number. I think that this is just overdone and you had money whipping out from a few institutions and that started a domino effect as small investors started to bail. This looks like an opportunity because the bleeding should be pretty much over and the street will realize that if not today very shortly. So take a look at the charts, fundamentals and the press releases and you'll get the picture. It closed at $22.12 down $5.24.

I just want to touch on Peru Copper (AMEX: CUP) quickly, we received a ton of emails and calls in regards to the company because it halted trading on Wednesday with no follow up. We spoke about it on Thursday and the bottom line is that speculators thought that Southern Copper (NYSE: PCU) was going to buy Peru Copper but that seemed to be far fetched, even though PCU made public statements in regards to it a week or so ago. So that could be a dead deal but do not sleep on Peru Copper because they did hint that there are other potential suitors that have showed an interest in their Toromocho project. The stock pulled back a bit but that was the speculators jumping ship once they were done bottom fishers started picking up the scraps, keep in tune with Peru Copper as it just may shock you in a good way in the coming months.

Know lets talk about a real smack down and a half, Joseph A. Bank (NASDAQ: JOSB), we alerted "Wall Street to Main Street" subscribers about this one before bell as the company missed the mark by a long margin as they announce earnings of 32 cents a share but the street expected 46 cents a share. Investors woke up to a nightmare with this one, and its probably not over yet. The stock closed down $10.73 to close at $26.40 making a new 52-week low.

InfoSonics (AMEX: IFO) has been getting beaten up this week, especially after it received a nice downgrade from a Buy to a Hold by Kaufman Brothers They will be splitting 2 for 1 shortly and right now the stock is about 10 points off of its recent 52-week high. We're sticking by this one as we still see it trading in the $20 post split. Now it may not happen immediately but it should settle in there once the street realizes the company's true value. It powered up from a low of $21.10 on Thursday to close at $23.60.

Hansen Natural (NASDAQ: HANS) dropped another $9.37 to close at $161.00, this has been a daily occurrence with the stock so you may be seeing lots of profit taking from those investors and institutions that own the stock below the $100 mark, and who could blame them with the run that this one made in a 12 month time frame.

Other stocks that traded down but shouldn't be down there include China Life Insurance (NYSE: LFC) which traded down $4.67 to close at $58.69, Expeditors International (NASDAQ: EXPD) traded down $3.88 to close at $94.59, Parlux Fragrances (NASDAQ: PARL) traded down $3.25 to close at $20.85, UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) traded down $2.93 to close at $107.50, Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM) traded down $2.87 to close at $101.49, Kookmin Bank (NYSE: KB) traded down $2.80 to close at $74.70, Wesco International (NYSE: WCC) traded down $2.72 to close at $60.68 and PetroChina Co (NYSE: PTR) which traded down $2.59 to close at $99.41.

Ontario Car Accidents Are Blamed on Street Racers

Most Ontario car accident lawyers will tell you that street racing can be partially blamed for the increasing number of fatal car collisions. Street racing has been a part of America's pop culture for decades. Movies like "The Fast and the Furious" have helped create a whole new generation of street racing enthusiasts. Many of these Ontario street races cause deadly car accidents. Even bystanders are often seriously inured and killed as speeding cars careen out of control.

Since 1998, attendance at street races in Ontario has skyrocketed. Thousands of teens and young adults meet in these deserted streets after 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and race until dawn. Ontario Police estimate that on some weekend nights, there is more traffic generated by street racers on surface streets than on the adjacent Interstate 15 Freeway.

Street racing in Ontario has been a problem for decades. The activity has been fueled by the accelerated growth of an industrial sector on the eastern side of the City. The long, wide streets, which are virally empty of traffic on weekend nights, draw huge crowds of young street racing devotees.

Fortunately, the police are "on" to the streetcar racers. Last October, Ontario police stopped an illegal street race on Airport Dive just west of Etiwanda Avenue. Approximately 100 officers from the San Bernardino DragNet Task Force swooped in from both sides of the street to nab the racers. As many as 187 young people--many just spectators--were arrested, 47 of them juveniles. In addition, 73 cars were impounded for 30 days, and it will cost up to $400 plus the cost of the citation for violators to get their cars back.

The State is also getting tough with Ontario street racers, imposing automatic six-month prison sentences and a $1,000 fine for a conviction. If someone is personally injured, violators could face several years in prison for manslaughter. Ontario has recently added another painful penalty--the option of crushing impounded cars caught in illegal street racing. The strategies seem to be working.

These races have no doubt contributed to many of the car accidents in Ontario recorded by the California Highway Patrol in 2006. That year, there were 21 car accident deaths in Ontario and 1,321 traffic accident-related injuries. Motorcycle accidents killed one and injured 34. DUI collisions took their toll, accounting for 11 fatalities and 118 injuries. Five pedestrians were killed and 50 were injured.

The deadly consequences of street racing can not be overemphasized. A new Liberty Mutual/ SADD (Students against Destructive Decisions) study revealed that between 2001 and 2006, 804 people were killed in street racing incidents.

Perform Card Tricks and Levitations For Easy Street Magic

Nothing is more exciting for a magician than performing right on the street and with easy street magic, even beginners can quickly build up their confidence to impress strangers and make cash. Popular magicians Criss Angel and David Blaine have enjoyed enormous success thanks to their talents for street magic. These magic tricks for kids, discussed here, offer a great introduction into the secrets of street magic. Kids looking to perform right in front of their audience on the street will need a variety of tools of the trade. Besides a deck of cards, a street magician needs coins, balls, cups and strings at least. Other items are likely to be needed as well depending on the types of magic tricks being performed.

Easy street magic tricks include making objects levitate, vanish and reappear. Levitation is probably the most coveted of all the magic tricks for kids since it gives the illusion of something really floating in air and makes a kid feel like a real magician. Levitation is actually pretty easy to learn, you just need a small object such as a pencil or leaf and a clear string. Using a clear adhesive attach one side to a finger on your hand and the other to the object being used. Wear a white shirt when performing this trick and move your fingers around, because the string appears invisible, the object will appear to be floating.

One of the most basic and fun easy street magic tricks, uses cards. This idea works great with a street audience because it allows for audience interaction and sets you up to look like a mind reader. Have an audience member pick up a card of their choice from any spot on the deck. Tell them to concentrate hard on their card. After they have it memorized, instruct them to place this card on the top of the pile, face down. Then to keep the audience from seeing the trick have the spectator turn over some cards on the top half of the deck, without shuffling it and place in a pile beside the first deck. Pay attention to this pile since the spectator's card is on the bottom of it.

Now to complete this easy street magic trick, pick up a large part of the original deck and turn face up onto another pile, creating three piles. Turn over the two piles not containing the spectator's card and start shuffling, finally turn over the last pile and add it to the top, continue shuffling, but keep the spectators card on top of the deck. Place the whole deck on your forehead and tell the audience member to concentrate on their card. Press down firmly so the top card sticks to your forehead, you ca use a little spit if need be, but make sure the audience doesn't see you do this! Slowly lower the deck and watch the audiences surprise as the card is revealed.

Practice your tricks in front of the mirror to help perfect your technique, this will be critical when doing magic tricks for kids that require you to tell a story and rely on fluid hand motions so the audience doesn't have the time to think the trick through. Street Children of Delhi

"Some kids sleep on top of water heaters or on the roofs of fruit stands. Others climb up onto the tin awnings at night," says Shekhar Saini. "They like to be higher up so the rats don't bite them while they sleep."

My husband and I are hurrying through the noisy crowded Delhi train station trying to keep up with Shekhar. He guides us around snoring beggars, tottering mountains of luggage, packs of scurrying rats and tea sellers rushing by with their steaming metal pots. Shekhar's dark eyes are lively. He narrates our walk through the station with passionate warmth and confident ease. I'm impressed with his excellent English. He's wearing a fashionably faded denim jacket and jeans. His thick dark hair is neatly combed and parted at the side.

I read an article about Shekhar, an aspiring Bollywood actor, in a Canadian magazine and contacted him immediately upon our arrival in Delhi. I wanted to arrange one of his unique tours, which gives visitors a glimpse into the lives of the more than 100,000 homeless children who live on Delhi's streets. Shekhar used to make his home amid the rotting garbage, wandering cows, rusty bicycles and animal excrement on the narrow winding streets surrounding the busy train station. He's the perfect person to show visitors around.

A small boy grabs my arm with his sticky hands begging for money. He's wearing a heavily stained bulky green sweater. His nose is bubbling with mucus. The skin on his arms is dry and flaking. His eyes are red rimmed, and barely visible under a shock of straw-like hair. He doesn't have any pants on! I can see his little bare brown bum. "He's an 'off the street kid', Shekhar says shooing him away. There are two kinds of street children in Delhi. 'Off the street' kids are those born to homeless parents. They have grown up on the streets of Delhi. 'Off the street kids' beg for a living and give the money to their parents. 'On the street kids' are those who have run away from home because they were being physically or sexually abused. Some were abandoned by their families because they had mental or physical disabilities or because they didn't study hard enough and weren't doing well at school. They've made their way to Delhi from various parts of India looking for a better life or just an escape. 'On the street kids' are more likely to be working rather than begging.

"Watch for pickpockets" Shekhar warns us. Several rival gangs control the 2,500 kids who live in and around the train station. Gang leaders approach the nearly 50 new runaway kids who arrive in Delhi by train each day, and try to persuade them to work for their gang as prostitutes or pick pockets. Each gang leader has staked out one of the station's bustling platforms as their territory to 'do business'. Vicious fights break out between the gangs when these boundaries aren't respected and then the police move in to beat the warring factions into peaceful cooperation.

Shekhar tells us with a tinge of pride in his voice that not all kids who live in the train station make a living with illegal enterprises. "They're not lazy" Shekhar says almost defensively. Some carry luggage, others shine shoes, deliver food, or pick up garbage. They give the 60 or 70 rupees they earn a day to one of the many food stand owners in the station who act as their 'bankers' for a 20% cut of their profits. In return the stand owner will let them sleep on his roof out of the way of the thousands of rats that roam the station. If the police come nosing around trying to arrest homeless kids, the food stand proprietiers will lie to the officers and say the street kids live with them and work for them.

Shekhar stops when my husband calls out to him and asks a question about a pair of kids barefoot and jacketless in the January cold huddled in a corner sniffing something from a bottle. Shekhar says its 'White Out'. "They can buy it at any general store", he tells us "and it gives them a cheap high." Shekhar points out other kids camped between the steel tracks ready to jump on arriving trains to look for discarded food scraps before the new passengers flood the cars. They all look so young to me. Shekhar says the homeless children in the station are between 5 and 18 but most are around age ten. We are almost out of the station before I realize I have seen hardly any girls. "30% of the kids who run away from home in India are girls" Shekhar tells me, "but you won't see many of them on the street. Pimps lure them into brothels almost as soon as they arrive in Delhi."

Shekhar stops under some trees near the station to tell us his story. He grew up in the state of Bihar and ran away from home at age 12. Shekhar had started smoking and drinking and his parents said he was an embarrassment to them. "Why in the world did I leave home", he said to himself when he arrived at the Delhi railroad station without money or friends. Another boy in the station took him to a Sikh temple that gave out free food and eventually Shekhar got work as a rag picker collecting boxes, cans and paper for recycling.

It was while doing this job that he met John Thompson the man who would change his life. Thompson was from London and worked for the Salaam Baalak Trust. It's an agency started by Bollywood director Mira Nair famous for movies like Monsoon Wedding and Mississippi Masala. Nair uses a portion of the profits from her films to fund a charitable organization that tries to provide street kids in Delhi with a home and an education. Johnson lured Shekhar into one the shelters run by the Salaam Baalak Trust by promising him clean clothes and a chance to watch TV. Shekhar stayed, learned English, graduated from high school and began to dream of becoming an actor. Johnson thought they should put Shekhar's dramatic talent to use. He came up with the idea of offering tours to educate visitors about the lives of homeless kids in Delhi. Shekhar has been conducting the tours for several years now but is still pursuing a possible Bollywood career. This year he is taking jazz dance lessons and a Shakespearean acting class. He asked me if I had every seen A Mid Summer Night's Dream and talked excitedly about a recent performance.

The next stop on our tour was one of the seven contact points the trust runs in Delhi. Kids can come here for medical care, condoms, food and a chance to learn English. When we arrived a young artist was busy painting a colorfully illustrated English alphabet onto the wall. Counselors at the contact point were talking with kids trying to convince them to come along with them to one of the Salaam Baalak shelters. It's a hard sell. "Its not easy for them to give up the freedom of the streets for life in the shelter where they have to follow rules, take a bath everyday and go to school", Shekhar explains. "For many it means giving up the free drugs supplied by the police in return for special favors. The streets are also appealing because its one place where caste and religion are irrelevant. That means a lot to some of these kids." A huge number 1098 is painted high on the wall of the contact point. Shekhar says it's a free emergency help line for kids operated by the Salaam Baalak Trust. They point it out to all the kids who wander into the contact point and tell them to memorize it.

We wend our way through the Delhi poultry market to visit one of the Salaam Baalak shelters where street children can live for several years. Shekhar is popular in the market place. Everyone seems to know him. Shoemakers, laundresses, fruit sellers and butchers call out a greeting and ask about the foreign visitors he's got with him.

The shelter is housed in an old building but the cracked walls have been painted a bright green and yellow. We climb the winding cement stairs to the second floor library with its shelves of old books. Several children are at tables near the windows reading in the sunlight. Shekhar says the electricity service in this area of Delhi isn't really reliable and it's expensive, so they only turn the lights on in the shelter in the evening. The third floor has a honeycomb of rooms that are home to 51 boys. We meet adults of many different nationalities. Shekhar tells us teachers, doctors, psychologists and social workers from around the world come to volunteer their time at the three centres, two for boys and one for girls run by the Salaam Baalak Trust. We peek into the room with low wooden tables where the children eat their meals. In another room 51 colorful rolled up mats line the walls. These are spread on the cement floor to sleep at night. We enter a classroom where all 51 boys are sitting on a large burgundy carpet. Many are wearing woolen hats or are wrapped in blankets to keep warm in the chilly room. Some are practicing writing alphabet letters in notebooks, but most are singing an English song with their teacher. Their high pitched, heavily accented voices make it hard to understand the words but they are printed on a piece of chart paper "Your home is in my heart, wherever you may wander, trust that I am there." I sit down on the floor to sing along with them thinking how ironic it is for these children to be singing about love and trust when many of them have lived without love or the ability to trust anyone for much of their very young lives.

There is no plea for cash as our tour ends. Shekhar hands us a brochure about the Salaam Baalak Trust. It invites us to visit their website to learn more about their work. It tells us young people who have graduated from the organization's shelters are working as computer software designers, tailors, photographers, waiters and factory apprentices. It lists ways we can help by volunteering our time and money. Shekhar's parting words are a reminder to invite other people to come to Delhi and experience the city walk with him. Shopping at Oxford Street and Places to Stay in London

Oxford Street is Europe's largest high street with more than 300 shops from leading department stores and flagships, for everything from fashion to furniture, toys to toiletries and the most recent gadgets from all over the world. It is Europe's busiest shopping street. The street derives its name from being part of the old London-Oxford Road. Today the road forms part of the A40, although it is not signposted as this, like other roads in central London.

Oxford Street is one and a half miles from one end to the other. Most of the shops open from 10.00 am until 7.00 pm and some even operate until 8.pm. Some of the Shops now open on Sundays from 12.00 pm to 6.00 pm with very late nights on Thursday. The Flagship of Oxford Street is Selfridges and the other big department stores which can be found in the section from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus, along with most of the very big name multinationals. It is more of the same as you continue towards Tottenham Court Road, but generally on a smaller scale. It is home to major department stores and numerous brands' flagship stores, as well as hundreds of smaller shops. It is the major shopping street in central London, though not the most expensive or fashionable, and part of a larger shopping district with Regent Street, Bond Street and other smaller nearby streets. For many British chain stores, their Oxford Street branches are regarded as their 'flagship' stores and used for celebrity launches and promotions.

The Tube is probably the best way to reach Oxford Street; although there are many London buses serving the area, the traffic congestion is pretty bad, and the wait is lengthy. The Central Line runs pretty much directly beneath Oxford Street at this point, with four stations along its length: Marble Arch, Bond Street (also served by the Jubilee Line), Oxford Circus (also served by the Bakerloo and Victoria lines), and Tottenham Court Road (also served by the Charing Cross branch of the Northern Line). If possible, avoid Oxford Circus Station, as its layout is confusing and it's also very busy; at times it can be difficult to get out of the station at all due to pedestrian congestion outside.

There are many London luxury hotels and also cheap London bed and breakfast  properties found in the area. It is an affluent area and hotels found there tend to have high room rates. However, Hotels in Bloomsbury which are just about 15 minutes walking distance from Oxford Street will give you very good rates. For instance, the Imperial London hotels which are a concentration of Hotels in Russell Square

It is advisable for someone who does not want to spend much on London accommodation but wants to get high standard of London high standard accommodation facilities to stay in Bloomsbury and just stroll to Oxford Street to do his or her shopping.

Self Defense Street Fighting - "Women's Self Defense" Doesn't Exist!

Once, while being interviewed about street fighting based self defense, I totally shocked the interviewer by stating a simple fact that shook his belief system from the very foundation.

His question was: "What would you recommend or what do you personally teach women in terms of self defense?"

My answer was: "There is no such thing as women's self defense."

Now that doesn't mean at all that women cannot or should not learn to defend themselves, on the contrary, it means that I give women more credit than even they give themselves!

What I mean when I say that women's self defense doesn't exist is that there should not be a difference between the way a woman defends herself and the way that a man defends himself.

Read these five reasons why street fighting based self defense works and how they are just as applicable to women as to men:

1. Street fighting based self defense works just as well against bigger attackers-Women's self defense supposedly has to be different from self defense for men because women tend to be smaller and weaker. Well, I weigh 175 lbs and work as a bouncer. Can you imagine that I have ever been attacked by a smaller guy? Neither can I. Now, if I weigh 175 lbs and street fighting based self defense allows me to defend myself against someone 100 lbs heavier, why can't a woman use the same concepts to defend herself against a much bigger man?

2. Street fighters aren't afraid to strike first-A surprise attack by a bad guy is called a sucker punch. A good guy used a preemptive strike. Either way, it is the same thing, a way to take an attacker out before he even knew he was in a fight. What do you think would be a better choice for a woman to do, wait for an attack and try to block and fight back or to suddenly knock a potential attacker down and out before he attacks, as soon as she feels threatened and knows that there is no way to avoid a fight.

3. Street fighters practice very good situational awareness-As a bouncer, I am constantly trying to see a fight before it starts, to be able to respond before things really get out of hand. A mugger or rapist spends time observing potential targets before he chooses the easiest mark. How can so many "women's self defense" instructors tell their students to run away from a fight if they don't give them the tools to notice a potential threat before it is too late? If your situational awareness, or your ability to see a potentially threatening situation coming and react before you are ambushed or attacked is on point, you won't ever have to fight at all.

4. Street fighters have conquered their fears and don't back down from anything-Ever hear of the concept of the "cornered rat?" Well, rats are nature's masters of street fighting self defense. Just like a rat, a good street fighter becomes much more dangerous when cornered and endangered. Bite, claw, give your attacker(s) everything you've got and die fighting because being afraid and giving-up didn't ever win a fight or save a life.

5. Street fighters don't train-Since developing my concepts of street fighting based self defense, I train much less than ever before in my life and am much more combat effective than ever before in my entire life. How should a working mom or business man find time for work, family, household and the hours of conditioning and technique training that most self defense or martial arts instructors claim are necessary to ensure your street survival? How about spending a few hours to learn a few brutally effective concepts of dirty street fighting and then having them for the rest of your life, on call to be used any time without maintenance training? Like I always say, if a technique is simple enough to use with minimal training, it is simple enough to use effectively on the street. If a technique is complicated enough to need to be drilled constantly, it is too complicated for use in a real street fight.

Political Front

In Nepal the tension has been relieved at least for now as King Gyanendra announced on television that he would reinstate the nations parliament. On that news a mass celebration broke out in Kathmandu.

The countdown continues, as the United Nations Security Council may slap sanctions against Iran if they do not cease their venture into nuclear power and enriched uranium. Both India and China urge for a diplomatic approach as any force against Iran may grow into a larger issue. Iran stated that if sanctions are imposed against the country that they will cease cooperating with the UN nuclear watchdog. This may lead to Iran dropping out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and could have an impact on the oil supply coming out of Iran.

Some major movers in Monday’s trading session include Carpenter Technology (NYSE: CRS) which traded up $12.53 to close at $123.55, U.S. Airways (NYSE: LCC) which traded up $$4.17 to close at $41.90, Industrial Services of America (NASDAQ: IDSA) Which came close to a double , it traded up $4.02 , over 80% to close at $8.99, National Coal (NASDAQ: NCOC) traded up $2.06 to close at $10.13, Ballard Power (NASDAQ: BLDP) traded up $2.24 to close at $12.50, Foundation Coal Holdings (NYSE: FCL) traded up $4.10 to close at $52.10, Empire Resources (AMEX: ERS) traded up $4.21 to close at $45.20 and TravelZoo (NASDAQ: TZOO) had another roaring up day as it traded up $6.00 to close at $50.35, now TravelZoo just 8 days ago was trading in the $20 range and the short squeeze keeps pushing the stock to new highs..

Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT) rips through 1st quarter projections as the heavy machinery company announced that their profit rose 48% to $1.20 a share, this pounded the analyst estimate by a good 20 cents. The company still has more growth both in the United States and overseas as China and India continue to grow and the U.S. rebuilds New Orleans and other parts of the nation.

TD Ameritrade (NASDAQ: AMTD) beat the analyst estimate be a penny as they announced earnings of 22 cents up over 29% from the same time a year ago. But they implemented a price restructuring that reduced their flat fee by a buck to $9.99. some analyst feel that this will take a nice chunk out of their future earnings. Another stock to keep close tabs on in the online brokerage arena is E-Trade (NYSE: ET) as it powers up in 2006.

Rambus (NASDAQ: RMBS) zooms up as they receive a favorable ruling in a patent litigation case. The California court ruled that the Korean chipmaker Hynix infringed on over 10 patents owned by Rambus.

Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ SUNW) CEO Scott McNealy has announced his resignation from the company after a 22-year stint. This could wind up to be a turnaround situation that investors have been looking for and maybe it will generate a newfound energy into the company that it desperately needs. He will be replaced by Sun’s current president Jonathan Schwartz, and McNealy will continue as the Chairman of the Board. Certain analyst have jumped on the bandwagon and upgraded the stock from a hold to a buy, which it just may be at this point.

Public Street Fights Are A Menace To Society

Public Street fights may not be very common but the effect it leaves behind is a real menace to the society. These open tussles between two people may just turn really ugly, involving bystanders in the process and it becomes heated brawls. In their anger, their common sense goes haywire and destruction of public properties such as parked vehicles, using waste bins as weapons, using anything that they can get hold of and it becomes a nasty fight.

The street fight may just be a contest between two opponents out in the open space. Outside pubs and night clubs; alleys are great sites for these public street fights where supporters gang up and there's a lot of push and pulling, ugly words and such. These fights are in public places and chances are innocents might get caught in the tussle and in the end, they may be the ones left with some severe bruises and cuts and not those who had instigated the street fight. Especially at nighttime, ruffians and thugs are always on the lookout for someone, anyone, to mess around. Street Magic Revealed in Type - A Quick Guide to Street Magic

Street magic really derived from traditional form of entertaining which was basking.
