Why should you buy Street Fighter IV for PS3?
Well, we have all grown up loving Capcom's most successful game franchise - the Street Fighter series. It's almost been a right of passage growing up, playing Ryu and Ken against each other to the death!
Fortunately, technology has moved on since the days of the SNES and we now have multiple processors with more power than we ever could have imagined in the days of the MegaDrive (wow, I remember those days fondly!)
So imagine how amazing it is that we can experience those familiar characters and old stages with brand new visuals and great effects!
Enter Street Fighter IV for PS3.
Yep, my dreams have been answered right there with this fourth installment of those kick ass moves and controlled combos. Quite frankly, all other beat-em ups (Tekken, Streets of Rage etc.) were born from the Street Fighter franchise, and in this latest installment the game has become simply fantastic. As each new version of the game came into being you can tell how much loving attention has been injected to make the game play more fun, and nowhere has this been more apparent than in this latest installment.
You can choose to play any of your favorite characters you were used to in your youth - from Chun-Li to Guile, or from Ryu to Ken. Interestingly, you may recall from the street fighter story that Ken and Ryu have a history together; they were taught by the same martial arts Sensei - well you will be pleased to know that this teacher (called Gouken) makes his first playable character debut in this new installment of the game. Similarly, there are also many other unlock features, from different characters to different stages. In arcade mode you get the opportunity to unlock these features. The more I played the game the more I got out of it.
The game play is equally as fantastic. With the ability to do more combos, another dimension has been added to the game. However one thing I was surprised to find was that air blocking has been turned off in this installment. That said, the game play is such that you can still pull out some surprise combo's against your opponents. One of the great features that the ps3 adds is we can now compare our stats on the online leader boards. Having played Street Fighter IV on both the Xbox and PS3, I do actually prefer the PS3 version because I find the PS3 online network better - so if you have the option I would recommend you buy Street Fighter IV for PS3.
As well as the arcade mode, there is a training mode which helps you hone your skills to the next level. I consider myself already a fairly good player but I still found the training mode helpful especially with regards to the new characters you can unlock. Indeed, even the most seasoned of professionals can pick up new skills with the new game play.
Finally, one of the most striking new features of this latest version of the computer game is the graphics. It's not quite 3D and not quite 2D. The graphic designers of the game have done a fantastic job creating fluid animation which fits perfectly with the controls, in a pseudo-3d style. I would go as far to say Street Fighter IV is possibly the best example of this animation available across all computer games.
Simply put, Street Fighter IV is street fighter at its best. And the opportunity to buy street fighter for ps3 is one I encourage you not to pass on.
